English duo narrowly miss out on German final

England’s Robert Lambert and Dan Bewley were the pick of the NGK-sponsored riders at the Wölk FIM Speedway GP of Germany – Teterow.

Both riders made the semi-finals, scoring ten points and nine points respectively, but failed to make the final with Bewley being excluded after his engine stalled.

Fellow NGK riders Tai Woffinden narrowly missed out on a semi-final place after scoring seven points while Sweden’s Freddie Lindgren had a disappointing night scoring just five points.

The Grand Prix was won by Poland’s triple Speedway GP World champion and championship leader  Bartosz Zmarzlik who finished ahead of Australian duo Jason Doyle in second place and Jack Holder in third.

John Money, who handles Speedway sponsorship on behalf of NGK-brand owner Niterra UK Ltd, said: “Robert and Dan showed good speed in Teterow and had looked on course for the final with Dan being especially unlucky in his semi-final.”

Zmarzlik’s win moves him on to 70 championship points and extends his lead at the top of the Speedway GP standings,  Lindgren has dropped from second position to fourth on 52 points with Lambert in seventh position on 42 points, one point and one place ahead of Bewley, with Woffinden in ninth place on 32 points.
