William Lynch is accused of scratching the paintwork of 10 vehicles at the Extreme Body Centre in Poole, Dorset. The vehicles included his own Bently Turbo R, a Porsche Macan, and a Range Rover, along with a BMW 1 Series, Jeep Cherokee, and Toyota Celica.
The incident occurred after Lynch apparently wasn’t allowed to take home his Turbo R after work had been carried out due to a problem with his insurance.
The £50,000 worth of damage was caused when Lynch, wearing gloves, moved his hands over the bodywork of the vehicles while concealing a sharp object. This left deep scratches on the paint, going back to metalwork in some places.
Lynch claims mistaken identity, with James Moore, his defence, stating in court:
He says this is a case of mistaken identity. He factually denies being present. He factually denies causing any damage. He is very much of the opinion “I am not guilty. I did not do that”
Granted unconditional bail, he will appear at Bournemouth Crown Court on 4 April.
