Free webinar to discuss the importance of UK aftermarket
The UK aftermarket sector generates £12.2 billion for the economy and supports 345,000 jobs repairing and maintaining Britain’s 30 million-plus cars.

The authors of two recently launched reports will join the SMMT to present and discuss the findings in a free webinar at 10:00am on Tuesday 20 September.

In one of the reports, consultants Frost and Sullivan highlighted the significant role and opportunities the service and repair market has in the UK automotive sector.

A second report explored the international activities and opportunities there are for UK aftermarket companies abroad.

In a press release, the SMMT said: “Various challenges and opportunities facing the aftermarket are considered in the reports including connected vehicles, changes in vehicle ownership patterns and telematics, while regulation, key market metrics and distribution structure here and abroad are also put under the spotlight.

“We are sure it will prove to be an interesting and enlightening webinar.”

Hosted by Peter Lawton, SMMT senior section manager and Stephen Spivey, program manager at Frost & Sullivan, the webinar will cover topics including the contribution the aftermarket makes to the UK economy, the split between independent/franchised services, the opportunities and challenges here and abroad, as well as market maturity and UK company penetration in three international markets.
