IGA inspires next generation of vehicle technicians
The IGA aims to encourage pupils at GCSE and A level to consider careers in the Automotive Industry whether at Graduate Entry, Apprenticeship or Direct Employment.

The independent Garage Association’s (IGA) Schools and Local Authorities Liaison Manager, Annette Buckby has been talking to pupils at the North Lincolnshire annual careers event, offering careers advice about working in the automotive industry.

Annette, said: “Through liaising with Local Authorities, Schools, Garages and other relevant Automotive Bodies, I am developing a programme which can be delivered in Schools by Local Garages.

“The objective is to encourage pupils at GCSE and A level to consider careers in the Automotive Industry whether at Graduate Entry, Apprenticeship or Direct Employment.”

In her latest report about her work, Annette said that she also attended an event organised by Form the Future of Cambridge.

“I had a lot of interest from pupils who were interested in becoming Technicians and required practical advice on the steps needed for starting their career path in the Automotive Industry.”

The IGA is launching an education resource on its website with apprenticeship information and industry specific qualifications, as well as general news and advice.
