A driver of a brand-new Volvo was left red-faced when he smashed into the back of a lorry while trying to “figure out cruise control”, police say.
The driver had been looking down at the buttons on the steering wheel and failed to notice the slow moving traffic ahead on the A30 in Devon.
Police said the car had been travelling at the national speed limit on the dual carriageway of 70mph and that the driver was unaware that the Volvo’s advanced driver assistance system, which is designed to help the drivers avoid low-speed collisions when driving in slow-moving traffic, only works up to speeds of 35mph.
Devon and Cornwall Police added on Twitter: “The moral of the story is read your handbook.”
No-one was hurt in the crash.
