With the launch of its new XC40, Volvo has also revealed plans for a “subscription” service that will cover everything from the car lease cost to insurance, taxes and even vehicle servicing.
Included in the deal, owners will be given access to “Volvo Original” vehicle servicing, which is performed by a personal service engineer and always with Volvo Original Parts.
Marketed as “Care by Volvo”, the scheme will be based on a ready-negotiated monthly fee, combined with getting a new car every 24 months.
Hakan Samuelsson, president and chief executive of Volvo Cars, said: “With Care by Volvo, we introduce a new car access for the modern age.
“In a time where consumers are used to transparent flat fees for all sorts of services, the traditional process of buying and owning a car can be perceived as rather complicated.
“Care by Volvo changes all of that.”
In the UK, the new subscription will initially be available within the M25 but Volvo plans to expand the scheme to more areas and to more of its models.

It’s really not going to affect the aftermarket garages, as Volvo will need to sell the vehicles on after two years. Imagine if they did it for the life of the vehicle; say ten years. Who would want to underwrite that – certainly not the manufacturers that’s for sure as they’d never sell repeat units.
