Bosch and four of our Bosch Car Service network members have entered four cars (bangers) into this year’s Bangers4Ben tour of Ireland. Each banger will have a driver from a Bosch Car Service garage plus an employee from the Bosch Automotive Aftermarket UK team.
The four Bosch Car Service garages involved are:
- Central Garage in Lichfield
- Lillywhite Brothers in Emsworth
- Andover Car Service
- Harding Auto Services in Woking
Bangers4Ben is now in its 15th year and has raised more than £500,000 for the Automotive industry charity BEN. Each year a new destination around Europe is chosen, with the teams having visited Maranello, Monaco, the F1 tracks at Spa, Silverstone, Nürburgring and The Alps in recent years.
Team members must purchase a vehicle for no more than £750 which they will then drive to a defined route over four days. The vehicles can be ‘themed’ as the teams wish, with vehicles getting more extreme makeovers as the years have gone on.
Aided by The AA, around 40 teams will attempt to get their ‘banger’ to the destination and back, before handing the car over to be sold at auction, with the proceeds going to Ben.
This year, the participants will definitely be hoping for the luck of the Irish. That’s because the destination is the Emerald Isle itself. It’ll take in gorgeous Irish landscapes, including the Wicklow Mountains, Sally Gap, Waterford Copper Coast, the Ring of Kerry, plus the Wild Atlantic Way. The teams are currently preparing their bangers to leave Holyhead for Dublin on the 7 October 2023.
From a Bosch perspective, this year marks a major anniversary, with Bosch celebrating 125 years in the United Kingdom. As part of these celebrations, we’ve been encouraging associates from around the business to participate in a 125 Acts of Kindness challenge.
From everyday ways to say thank you, like organising garden cleanups, to climbing the Three Peaks for charity, a 125 mile cycle ride and now Bangers4Ben. The Bosch associates are committed to showing the world that Bosch UK is a company with generosity and kindness at its heart, honouring Robert Bosch’s legacy of social responsibility.
