Castrol has launched its new online Oil Selector tool to streamline the transition from search to purchase, making the whole process simpler, easier, and more effective in the UK.
It will help consumers and technicians select the right oil and fluids for a specific vehicle.
The tool has been designed to drive positive consumer awareness of the benefits of using premium lubricants and fluids, helping workshops maximise profitable upsell opportunities.
Users enter the number plate, make and model of the vehicle, and Castrol provides bespoke recommendations on the most suitable oil, transmission fluid, brake fluid and coolant.
Workshop staff using the tool will also be directed to trade-only versions of Castrol products.
Running a vehicle on incorrect engine oil, can have serious consequences: modern engines are made to increasingly tight tolerances, and an unsuitable lubricant can poison catalysts, cause blockages in filters, and even cause oil starvation that can contribute to engine damage.
Paul Miller, marketing manager at Castrol Europe said: “Many consumers are unaware of the most appropriate lubricant and fluids to use for their vehicle and are unsure where best to search for the information.

“The Castrol Oil Selector is one of the most advanced online tools of its kind, yet is quick and simple to use, with clear guidance on why a premium option could be best for them.
“Crucially, it helps take away some of the burden from workshops in communicating the benefits, helping them maximise interest in, and profit from, these key consumables.”
Once consumers have found the optimum lubricant for their vehicle, the Castrol Oil Selector will direct them to an online retailer.
In the UK, the Oil Selector tool links to Castrol’s eBay store, where the user can purchase their chosen product.
“Simplifying the digital customer journey from search to purchase is at the heart of our customer experience strategy,” adds Miller.
