New system predicts future of a vehicle's servicing and repair requirements

Start-up to help motorists and businesses assess vehicle reliability

A new ‘machine learning platform’ which claims to predict the future health of vehicles has been launched.

Impair, the firm behind the innovation, says it’s aiming to better inform owners, future buyers and businesses about the long-term financial prospects of car ownership as well as the risk and reliability of the vehicle.

The system utilises historical and current automotive data in real-time to identify a vehicle’s origins.

Impair.ai, a new start-up business in the automotive data space, is accessible via an API and provides great insights for businesses in warranty, insurance, gap insurance, dealerships and finance houses.

Impair founder, Olli Astley, said: “I see Impair.ai as being an incredibly useful platform focused on reliability and future issues based on a vehicle’s past, i.e. being an ex-taxi vehicle.

“It will be beneficial for both B2B customers, such as warranty or finance houses, as well as Motorists.”

Olli says that impair.ai is the first machine learning platform in the automotive space predicting the future of the vehicle rather than just looking at a vehicle’s past.

Meanwhile, CarGuide.co.uk, which is powered by impair.ai, aims to fill a gap in the used car market, by helping used car buyers to ask seller the right questions and identify all possible risks associated with a used car purchase.

Olli added: “CarGuide.co.uk aims to take the typical vehicle check to a new level, by allowing our customers to plan financially for any possible component failure issues which are likely to leave them out of pocket.”

“By focusing on the information that really matters, we want to help buyers to save time, money and raise awareness of future expenditure risks through our platform.”

The Impair Ltd team comprises of keen petrolheads Olli Astley and Mima Rybanska, who first met while working together at AA Garage Guide in 2016, the AA’s online garage search and booking site.

An entrepreneur and automotive technologist, Olli has a proven track record within this sphere having started and grown several early-stage businesses, including Motors.co.uk.

Olli said: “We’ve seen real interest from businesses and investors so far, but we’re always keen to chat with anyone else who might be interested in joining such a unique project at a hugely exciting time for the company.

“Anyone interested should get in touch with either Mima or myself at [email protected].”
