Tiff Needell takes to the airwaves to advise motorists about the importance of getting their car checked for the summer.

With new research by the Good Garage Scheme revealing that as a nation of motorists we are unprepared for long car journeys over the summer, Fifth Gear presenter, Tiff Needell has taken to the airwaves to advise motorists about the importance of getting their car checked for summer motoring and recommending that they visit their nearest Good Garage Scheme for a holiday check.

Tiff’s live and recorded interviews will be aired this week with an audience reach of over 33 million listeners.

Over four in ten of 1,000 drivers surveyed by the Good Garage Scheme said they had no plans to get their car checked before their next long journey, while almost half admitted to not knowing their tyre tread depth and just 39 per cent were found to have checked the condition of their spare tyre in the last year.

Almost a third said they had never had their car’s oil system cleaned, while just over a fifth said they are prepared to deal with a tyre blow out if it happened to them.

Tiff also explained how many garages have seen a rise in the number of motorists with air conditioning problems during the recent heatwave.

21-point holiday check

The 21-point Good Garage Scheme holiday check also includes checking operation of the air conditioning system and, if required, a sterilising and deodorising service, to ensure comfortable summer motoring.

Good Garage Scheme garages are recognised as providing exceptional service to their customers based on a rigorously monitored mandatory code of practice and regular independent audits.

As well as the radio campaign, the Good Garage Scheme is also promoting the holiday check via digital marketing and PR activity aimed at directing motorists to GoodGarageScheme.com where they can enter their postcode to find their local Good Garage Scheme workshop.
