Garages warned against re-use of TVD bolts

Technicians are risking 'job rectification' time and money, explains Corteco

Garages warned against re-use of TVD bolts
Corteco advice rejects the re-use of TVD bolts.

Corteco is advising workshops not to re-use the original bolts when installing a replacement TVD.

There will be consequences – for the end user as well as the garage – when an expensive job rectification procedure is required, says Corteco.

Corteco is a market leader in vibration control and the aftermarket distribution arm of OE manufacturer Freudenberg, one of the largest suppliers of OE parts to vehicle manufacturers.

TVDs take vibrations out of front end auxiliary drive (FEAD) systems and also improve overall driving comfort: “installed at OE, they play a key role in stabilising the performance of the FEAD, which is responsible for delivering the power to so many systems,” says marketing manager Steve Jarnet.

“At the end of a duty cycle, the bolts are not the same size as they were at installation.

“To re-use them is a risk. New bolts are essential, otherwise problems are inevitable,” he adds.

Corteco supplies a broad range of TVD Kits, which include TVDs plus the appropriate bolts for each application.
