A quick and efficient way to remove decals and salvage bonded trim

How to remove decals in six simple steps
Induction Innovations: attaching the 'fast-off pad' to the Inductor Pro-Max.

Induction Innovations, suppliers of heating tools and equipment, has published a how-to guide on removing decals, vinyl graphics and more.

The Inductor U-211 fast-off pad is used with the Inductor Pro-Max induction heating tool and leaves little to no adhesive behind.

Induction Innovations say this reduces the need for toxic solvents and reduces clean up time, allowing workshops to save money and lessen the potential health and safety issues from using harmful solvents.

Unlike traditional heating methods, the invisible heat created by induction heating is a clean and fast way for removing objects bonded to sheet metal.

The high frequency magnetic fields pass through non-metallic objects, once these magnetic fields reach the metal surface they heat the metal only leaving the non-metallic parts cooler.

Step five: an L wedge will help to maintain outward pressure.

1. Attach the ‘fast-off pad’ to the Inductor Pro-Max.

2. Set the power control knob to midway between the ‘low’ and ‘max’ settings.

3. Step on the foot switch to turn the power ON, maintain foot pressure, once released the power will turn off.

4. Holding the ‘fast-off pad’ against the non-metallic object to be removed, move it in a small circular or back and forth motion, ensuring you don’t overheat the panel.

5. While heating the panel begin to remove the object with outward pressure. An L wedge will help to maintain outward pressure while you heat and will allow the adhesive to release at the lowest possible temperature without damaging the finish.

6. Remove the trim or decal as required.
