It’s the season of ghosts, ghouls and things that go bump in the night, but as Halloween approaches, this list of frightening repair bills is enough to scare the nation’s motorists.

Analysis of MotorEasy warranty claims and their repair costs over the last 24 months has dug up some financial frights which would have been their owners’ worst nightmare had they not been covered by an extended warranty.

The data was used to create the main image, which is scary enough to send a mechanic scurrying for safety behind the front desk.

According to MotorEasy figures, the biggest warranty claim was a staggering £15,600 for a BMW 3 Series engine.

“Whether the on-screen monster who scares you the most is Hannibal Lecter, Norman Bates or Jigsaw, these car repair bills are even more likely to keep you up at night,” commented Duncan McClure Fisher, CEO of Intelligent Motoring, the parent company of MotorEasy.

  1. The radio / Sat Nav unit in my wife’s Hyundai has failed. It’s under warranty but they can’t get a replacement unit. They’re saying that they’re on indefinite back order. They tell me that the cost of the unit out of warranty is £4500. How do they justify these prices ?

  2. MotorEasy will NOT repair or replace a timing chain, regardless of it being a covered component named on the policy. Ignore the tempting sales patter, it’s all lies!
