Why one garage is now using TUNAP system to clean all inlet valves

Instead of taking 14 hours, the garage can now clean inlet valves in two hours

Why one garage is now using TUNAP system to clean all inlet valves
Tunap's valve cleaning system has been praised by a garage for dramatically reducing inlet valve cleaning time.

TUNAP, a producer of chemically-inspired product solutions for the automotive aftermarket, has revealed how it is saving technicians time when cleaning inlet valves using its Valve Cleaning System.

In a statement, the company explained how one garage solved a time-consuming problem with its system.

TUNAP said: “When a vehicle comes into a workshop and the issue is carbon build-up on the inlet valves, customers are not too happy when the cleaning process is explained and labour charges could be anywhere from eight to 15 hours if cleaned manually.

“Cleaning can be a very long and painful process to complete not always resulting in the best result.”

One of TUNAP’s customers, “Steels Vauxhall” in Worthing, was experiencing just this drain on their technicians’ time.

Steels Vauxhall started seeing an increase in vehicles suffering from carbon build up on inlet valves.

They had three in last month and already have four others lined up ready to be cleaned.

The old process had the technicians removing the cylinder head, stripping and manually cleaning the valves.

The jobs were taking roughly 14 hours to do with some being more difficult than others.

Reducing drain on technician time

A local TUNAP Product Specialist went in to see Steels Vauxhall and showed them the advantages of using the TUNAP Valve Cleaning System.

Steels had a 1.6L Diesel engine in with engine code B16DTL direct injection.

This particular car had 80,000 miles on the clock, but they had experienced this issue from 40,000 up to 120,000.

The TUNAP Product Specialist carried out the valve clean on the vehicle using the TUNAP Valve Cleaning System and, instead of taking 14 hours, it took two hours.

Before and after images

TUNAP has said Steels was blown away with the results and these results can be seen in the photos below.

TUNAP also released an image comparing the cleaned ports with those still clogged with carbon deposits.

They are now using the TUNAP Valve Cleaning System on every vehicle that comes in with this issue.
