BG Products takes to the big screen

Experts give high praise in new ITN programme

BG Products takes to the big screen
A new film shows how BG Products can provide garages with a revenue stream, extra profit and improved customer satisfaction.

The benefits of BG’s range of preventative maintenance solutions that reduce engine deposit build-up affecting injectors, valves, EGRs and DPFs, have been recognised in a unique news and current affairs-style programme entitled ‘Vision of the Future’ from the Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) and ITN Productions.

The four-and-a-half-minute BG Products feature is presented by national newsreader Natasha Kaplinsky and promotes a profitable opportunity for all garages – and main dealers in particular.

Industry professionals appear on-air to commend BG Products for its customer-focused maintenance solution.

During an interview for the programme, renowned industry expert Frank Massey backs claims that BG Products helps workshops ensure customer loyalty.

Explaining why he uses the BG fuel system cleaner and BG oil flush for every service, he said: “It’s a simple sell because driver benefits outweigh the cost.”

According to research by Powerflow Ltd, the UK distributor of BG Products, at least 66 per cent of independent garage customers will buy additional products if the benefits are explained to them.

For main franchise dealers, that figure rises to at least 75 per cent.

Founder of automotive profitability specialist, ASE Plc, Trevor Jones says upselling products that are good for the customer can fuel business growth.

“Anything that’s of benefit to the car and the customer is worth considering,” he advises.

“In my view, it is an upsell that is necessary and beneficial.”

‘Fuel business growth’

The advanced automotive chemistry available from BG Products has been shown to improve fuel efficiency by up to seven per cent, meaning the average UK motorist could save around £160 a year on fuel.

“If you take time to talk to the customer and tell them the benefits of the products, nine times out of ten they will go for it,” says Nick Constantin, vehicle technician at Money-Save Garage.

“Economy for the customer is better and also, for us, it’s another product that we’re selling, so we are making a profit.”

Director of BG Products, Paul Dobbyn said: “We research and develop solutions to engine issues around deposit control and lubrication and keeping components running smoothly, effectively and efficiently for as long as possible.”

He explained that the BG Products preventative maintenance approach can save garage customers money on expensive repair bills because carbon build-up, if left untreated, can cause engine components to fail.

“Using products like a fuel system cleaner or an engine flush or an air-intake cleaner, for example, will take that engine back to its original specification, restoring power and restoring economy,” he added.

“It’s an ethical upsell that’s beneficial for the customer – the end user – and profitable for the garage.”
