Carbon Clean has revealed its step-by-step DPF cleaning process, which promises to remove up to 100 per cent of carbon, soot and ash build-up.

Using its machines, the company says independent garages are able to clean DPFs in their own workshop.

Benefits for the vehicle owner include improved fuel economy, restored power and reduced engine noise.

Carbon Clean DPF cleaning

  1. Remove the blocked DPF from the vehicle.
  2. Soak the DPF in Carbon Clean’s specially formulated ProClean solution for 20 minutes to loosen hard, unburnt soot and ash.
  3. Connect the DPF to a Carbon Clean DPF cleaning machine using the supplied accessories.
  4. During operation, the machine pumps high pressure air and water through the DPF, thoroughly cleaning it in just 20-30 minutes. Some Carbon Clean machines incorporate features to show before/after pressure readings and even have a dryer for quicker turnaround times.
  5. Once the cycle has been completed, the DPF can be refitted to the vehicle. Carbon Clean recommends using its ProClean ‘power and protect’ solution which coats the DPF, to slow down the carbon build-up again.
