KYB launches ‘Twin-Zero’ manufacturing challenge

KYB Advanced Manufacturing (KAMS), which manufactures OE product for brands within the Stellantis group of companies and the European aftermarket, has launched a new project called ‘Twin-Zero’.

The target of this project is to create a digital twin of a manufacturing line, in order to try to achieve zero anomalies, predictive maintenance, finished goods and raw material traceability. All this with the parallel objective of achieving a more sustainable manufacturing process and final product.

To carry out this innovative project, KAMS is collaborating with different partners, in addition to receiving a grant from the Government of Navarra in Spain through the call for strategic research and development projects.

The project began in July 2022 and is planned to run until the end of December 2024. It requires regular supporting technical documentation.

In this initial phase of the project, teams are working to analyse the entire flow of the production line and are testing new data capture systems such as artificial vision or advanced sensory. As this is a lengthy process, there are several milestones where progress will be presented.

Juan Carlos Díez, KYB Europe’s executive director aftermarket, said: “KAMS is the only factory in the KYB global network to currently be analysing its production process in this way.

”We are excited to see the progress and the results of this innovative experiment, to learn how to improve KAMS and our other 13 worldwide factories, ultimately benefiting our aftermarket customers.”
