Two points in difficult conditions at Belgium’s Spa-Franchorchamps circuit last weekend, leaves DAMS driver Ayuma Iwasa just 22 points adrift of second place in the F2 Drivers Championship.

With round 11 complete and three rounds left, the Lucas Oil-sponsored DAMS team narrowly slipped back to fourth place in the team championship. A return to form at Zandvoort, Netherlands, at the end of August (25-27) will bridge the gap on the third placed team (three points).

Every F2 team uses the same Dallara chassis, Mecachrome engine and Pirelli tyres. Racing strategies are the keys to success in both the Sprint Race on Saturday and the Feature Race on Sunday. Of the two DAMS drivers, only Iwasa scored points on Saturday (two) while Arthur Leclerc was hampered by events (collision and puncture) on Sunday and was unlucky to miss the points.

Both DAMS cars race on Lucas Oil’s Synthetic L11 Racing Gear Oils, while the team uses a variety of other lubricants, workshop accessories and cleaning products from the Lucas Oil range. These include Brake Cleaner, Lucas Slick Mist Interior Detailer, Lucas Slick Mist Paint & Glass Gloss Finish, Lucas Metal Polish, as well as Lucas Slick Mist Tire & Trim Shine.

“The team has been competitive in every round so far,” says Dan Morgan, Lucas Oil’s sales and operations director. “That means going into the summer break with good targets to aim for and strong incentives to do well.”
