Flint flies to second British title

NGK-sponsored Speedway riders have continued their fine form with Leon Flint being crowned the new British Under-21 Champion.

The Wolverhampton rider triumphed in Birmingham over fellow NGK stablemates Dan Thompson, of Leicester, who was runner-up, and Belle Vue’s Tom Brennan who took fourth place.

Flint went unbeaten around his old Perry Barr home track to add another individual honour to his CV, just over a month after winning the British Under-19s championship.

He said: “It feels really good. I’ve had a rough time of late with a lot of travelling and a lot of bike prep but it feels good to have that smile back on my face and it’s another reminder why I keep doing what I love – and that’s racing my bike.”

Fellow NGK-sponsored British Speedway ace Dan Bewley recently achieved back-to-back World Championship Grand Prix victories after winning in Poland with NGK stablemate Robert Lambert also making the podium.

John Money, of sponsor NGK Spark Plugs (UK) Ltd, said: ”Once again our sponsored riders have shown their ability in major events.

“It was a fantastic performance by Leon to beat Dan to the title and it was also a particularly impressive performance by Tom who was suffering the effects of a heavy crash just two days before the final.”
