Under-inflated tyres could cost drivers £10,000 in fines

If a driver is stopped by the police and the tyres on their vehicle are found to be illegal, which includes under or over-inflated tyres, they could be faced with a £2,500 fine and three penalty points per tyre.

As October is Tyre Safety Month, one of the companies associated with this movement, Ring, is raising awareness on the financial impact under-inflated tyres have on drivers.

Driving on under- or over-inflated tyres can affect the vehicle’s steering and its braking distance, meaning that its stopping distance will be longer, whereas with correctly inflated tyres, drivers can increase the efficiency of their vehicle, as it will steer and stop more effectively and go further per gallon, saving money. It can also reduce the amount of emissions created by the vehicle, so it’s better for the environment.

To ensure drivers can easily inflate their tyres to the correct pressure, lighting and accessory giant, Ring, has introduced a cordless tyre inflator (RTC4000), so drivers have a high quality, compact, yet powerful cordless tyre inflator that can be used for cars and motorbikes.

Unlike the many cordless tyres inflators on the maket that can only do very small top ups, on possibly one or two tyres at a time till the battery goes flat, the RTC4000 can inflate four tyres by above 10 psi easily and has a battery capacity that will inflate a tyre from flat.

It is easily chargeable via a USB Type C or 12V DC cable and is quick to inflate a tyre, even from flat.

To help drivers save time, this tyre inflator also has a memory function, so the user can save different tyre pressures and activate them easily from the home screen, and it also has an auto-stop feature, so there’s no risk of over inflating the tyre.

To the get the most accurate reading, Ring recommends that motorists should check their tyres when they are cold or haven’t been driven for at least an hour.
