Mintex stopping power helps deliver cross-country rally victory

Mintex Racing brake pads and discs provided the stopping power to the winners of the first round of the 2023 All Wheel Drive Club (AWDC) Freelander Trophy, held at Walters Arena in South Wales.

The winning team, RS Off-Road, made up of drivers Reece and Sean Mathieson, took overall honours after eight runs of a demanding six-and-a-half-mile stage around the famous gravel roads of the arena, which have featured in previous UK rounds of the World Rally Championship.

Reece Mathieson said: “We knew it was to be a rough and demanding stage for our Freelander, but with confidence in our car’s capabilities, we stayed consistent, and our times were solid. By the lunchtime break, we had no problems or repairs to make and had a comfortable lead of over three minutes.

“Our car was performing brilliantly across the ever-changing terrain, and our Mintex Racing M1144 pads were constantly providing us with the stopping power we needed to keep on top no matter how muddy, wet or gritty our car and brakes got.”

Richard Barton, category manager for Mintex Racing at TMD Friction, said: “Mintex has a proven track record across various forms of motorsport, from circuit racing to rallying, and it’s great to see that even in extreme settings such as the Freelander Trophy, that Mintex pads and discs stay the course and help deliver the win.”

The next round of the 2023 AWDC Freelander Trophy took place at Clouds Hill in Bovington, Dorset, on Sunday 9 April.
