Servicing Stop, a company which started as two brothers and a fax machine, is a growing service provider in the UK and has seen a 100 per cent increase in staff over the past 12 months due to escalating customer demand, according to a recent press release.

Boasting a similar business model to Airbnb and Uber, the company takes control of the customer experience and outsources the chosen service to selected garages, offering car servicing, MOTs and repairs to consumers.

£150 million worth of work has been quoted through the platform in the last 12 months, with £60 million paid directly to its garage network.

The company offers a free collection and delivery service throughout the UK.

Before a garage is granted membership to the network, it must undergo a comprehensive review of financial data, insurances, accreditations and automotive expertise.

These safeguards remain in place as garages are monitored through customer satisfaction scores; cost and compliance to service schedules are also used to gauge performance.

Catering for all makes and models, four million visitors visited the Servicing Stop website last year resulting in more than a quarter of a million bookings.

Investment and growth

The company appeared on BBC’s Dragons’ Den in 2009, where the CEOs secured three offers of £100,000 investment from James Caan, Deborah Meaden and Peter Jones.

Despite coming out on top, the company accepted an offer of private investment and has worked at 100 per cent growth a year for the last three years.

CEO of Servicing Stop, Oly Richmond said: “My brother and I started this journey eight years ago with a fax machine in our spare bedroom, it has taken us to amazing heights with the potential to go even higher.

“Since founding Servicing Stop our business has quoted £400 million worth of work to customers allowing us to save the consumer market hundreds of millions every year and provide tonnes of business to independent garages – often more than they can handle.

“With this in mind we are on a constant recruitment drive for the very best and skilled of garages to join our network in order to provide our service to motorists everywhere.”
