The DVSA is urging MOT test centres to help encourage motorists to sign up to its MOT reminder service.

By encouraging motorists to sign up for an MOT reminder, the agency hopes it will help them to plan ahead when booking their MOT.

The DVSA said: “We know the Autumn period is still busy for many garages, so receiving a reminder 4 weeks before their MOT is due, should prompt motorists to take action, instead of leaving it to the last minute to book their MOT and risk not getting an appointment with you.”

It comes as the agency launches new features to its MOT reminders and MOT history services.

The improvements make it easier for motorists to view/ amend MOT reminders and access/ print their MOT certificates.

The DVSA has developed a new ‘toolkit’ for workshops to help promote the benefits of MOT reminders.

The kit includes ready-made content for garage social media accounts, customer email addresses and text messages.

In a statement, the DVSA said: “This year, we are continuing to focus on improving our services.
