DENSO is creating a greener and more efficient diesel landscape using its advanced i-ART pressure sensors to deliver optimal fuel injection control.
The unique design of the miniature pressure sensors, which monitor injection activity from within the structure of the injector itself, allows an unprecedented level of fuel injection accuracy, monitoring the amount and timing of the process with 1/100,000 second precision.
The most precise fuel injector system of its kind, the technology ensures modern diesel engines offer a cleaner, quieter and more fuel-efficient drive than ever before.
Diesel cars represent 39 per cent of the UK car parc, and while alternative fuels are growing in popularity, diesel continues to provide the unrivalled engine efficiency critical for the long-haul driving that many motorists and businesses alike rely on.
i-ART has already become diesel technology of choice to some of the largest manufacturers in the world, including becoming a key selling-point for Volvo’s eco-friendly Drive-E engine, which boasts the highest engine output and fuel efficiency in its class.
Mike Sadler, assistant manager and technical specialist for DENSO Sales UK, commented: “Diesel remains a crucial element of the UK and global car industry, performing business-critical roles and facilitating the everyday lives of commuters everywhere.
“As the industry evolves, diesel technology needs to as well, and DENSO is at the very forefront of making a greener and more efficient diesel engine a reality.
“It is one of the many frontiers in which DENSO is a leading role, and we’ll continue to look towards a more environmentally friendly and efficient automotive landscape.”
DENSO’s development efforts extend beyond diesel engines, with ground-breaking research in producing advanced gasoline engines, electric systems and several other fields in the automotive industry.
