The latest range of Torsional Vibration Damper (TVD) pulleys from Corteco fits petrol-driven modern Minis.
Installers now have aftermarket solutions for modern Mini models (R50, R52, R53) manufactured between June 2001 and November 2007.
Corteco says development of the initial range of TVD pulleys followed a tour of garages organised by a Corteco distributor and a chance remark made by one Mini repair specialist.
Corteco UK’s marketing manager, Steve Jarnet said: “He told us that TVD replacements on modern Minis in general and on the R50 and R53 models in particular, were ‘available from dealers only’.
“That news came as a surprise.”
TVDs protect the components inside modern Front End Auxiliary Drive systems (FEAD) from vibrations that are generated by the camshaft.
By absorbing these vibrations, they help to extend the life of the drive belt and other associated other components.
This helps to reduce noise from the FEAD and improve the overall quality of the ride.
Corteco’s vibration control specialists quickly confirmed the need for an aftermarket solution and soon identified strong evidence of demand potential from Mini installers with similar issues throughout the world.
“TVDs for modern Minis are no longer ‘dealer only’ parts, adds Steve Jarnet.
“The new range of TVD pulleys includes 11 OE quality references for models from the Mini One, Mini Cooper and Mini Cooper S ranges.
“Installers will find they are immediately available from all motor factors distributing the Corteco brand.”
