New standards which will be introduced later this year will mean that discs and drums will be tested across key parameters to make sure their performance matches the OE part.

The key parameters include chemical composition, mechanical properties, thermal fatigue, load and performance tests, friction and conformity compared to OE and production consistency.

In a statement, Apec said: “ECE R90 for discs and drums should help safeguard you against of the risk of counterfeit and substandard products.

“All Apec discs and drums are already fully ECE R90 compatible.”
