The Daily Echo has reported that police are currently investigating the cause of a “shocking” and “terrible” fire that has ruined a Hampshire business and damaged a neighbouring skills centre.
The blaze started at Duda Garage in First Avenue, Southampton and destroyed two cars to the point where they have been described as “burnt out shells”.
The blaze began in a car just outside the entrance to the building, before spreading to another inside before crews from Redbridge, Romsey, St Mary’s, Eastleigh and Hightown fire stations were called out just after 2.30am.
A spokesperson for Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “The garage suffered servere fire and smoke, with neighbouring units affected by water damage.
“Crews liaised with the Environment Agency and Southern Water throughout, with the police due to attend the scene to investigate the cause.”
The garage opened eight years ago and the owner is currently on holiday but has reportedly been told about the blaze.
