Workshop goes up in flames following mindless arson attack
Garage owner, Matt Hunt nearly lost his business after mindless vandals set fire to his garage.

Auto Repair Centre in Darnall has been attacked by vandals under the cover of darkness, causing damage to six vans and two cars which were either vandalised or set alight along with a lock up that contained thousands of pounds worth of tools and equipment.

Two men, thought to be in their late teens, were caught on CCTV at the scene of the crime which took place on April 17.

Garage owner, Matt Hunt said: “I do not understand what these people get out of this.

“The firefighters said the arsonists used an accelerant and on the CCTV you can see them stood back watching the fire go up.

“There is something wrong with these people.

“Nearly lost my business”

“I nearly lost my business that I have built up for the last 20 years.

“The fire very nearly spread to another building which had about £15,000 worth of vehicles in it.

“There was also gas cannisters and fuel in there, so it could have gone up.

“But thankfully a resident spotted the blaze and rang firefighters who came straight away.”

The business is currently in talks with their insurance but stressed it would be back open for business.
