A mobile mechanic from North Wales who was banned from driving for three years has failed in his bid to get his licence back early.

Harinder Singh refused to take a breath test in August 2021 after crashing his BMW X6 on the M54 motorway near Telford.

Describing his village at Telford Magistrates Court last week, Mr Singh said: “It is very hard without a car and driving would help me find a job.” He told the court that relying on lifts made it difficult for him to operate as a mobile mechanic.

Prosecutor Miss Sara Beddow told the court that the crash had been minor, with no injuries. He was banned for three years due to a conviction for drink-driving in May 2018.

He had also failed to attend a course which could have meant his ban being lifted in December.

Presiding justice Carol Scott told Mr Singh that his application was unsuccessful, saying: “We are not going to grant your application.

“You will have to carry on serving the disqualification.

“It is unfortunate that you have not done the course. If you had have, the reduction would have meant finishing the disqualification this December.”

  1. The longer he’s off the road the better, only a fool would risk their livelihood.
