An image of a Blue Tit bird caught on camera 20 on the southbound M1 in Northamphire has become an internet sensation after performing a dance in front of the camera whilst also pecking the glass.

The image was retweeted by BBC nature presenter Chris Packham and has been shared 394 times and received 591 ‘favourites’ on Twitter.

The footage was captured in the early morning of May 1 at 7:19am, prompting several jokes through social media.

Ecologist Paul Watts shared the image on Twitter, posting: “WARNING! Giant blue tit loose on the M1!”, while another user added: “Tsk! Hogging the middle lane.”

The Royal Society for Protection of Birds says that the blue tit’s mix of blue, yellow, white and green makes it one of the UK’s most attractive and most recognisable garden visitors.
