The two men, 31 and 25, respectively, had travelled from West Yorkshire to Kings Lynn on 27 March to take a catalytic converter from the bin of a Toyota garage in the Hardwick industrial estate.
During the theft, they were confronted by members of staff who then called the police; both defendants waited for officers to arrive before being arrested.
Allegedly, Ewebank and Mitchell had previously been given permission to take the scrap and were doing so believing they were allowed.
Both pleaded guilty and were fined £80, along with £85 in legal costs and a £32 victim surcharge each.
