A builder in his thirties has died after falling from a height while working at a garage in County Westmeath, Ireland.

Pauric Kirby, who ran a construction company, died from injuries sustained when the tragic incident took place on 4 October. He was married and expecting his fourth child.

Gardaí (Irish police) said: “A man aged in his 30s was pronounced deceased. His body has been removed from the scene. A post mortem will take place at a later time.

“The coroner has been notified. The HSA (Health and Safety Authority) has been notified and will attend the scene to conduct an examination.”

A spokesperson for the HSA added: “I can confirm a fatality of a man due to a fall from a height at a premises on the old Dublin Road in Mullingar this morning.

“The HSA has launched an investigation and as such no further information is available.”

In tribute posted on rip.ie, his cousin Ursula Dalton said: “What an absolute pleasure it was to call this man my second cousin, a gentleman, a beautiful soul, a massive character in our village and a wonderful man.. sad beyond words.

“The gates were open Pauric before you even got there. You will never be forgotten, RIP to an absolute legend.”
