Geoff Stilwell is strapped in for a first practice in the Lucas Oil-sponsored 1927 Model T rear-engine roadster.
The car, which retains the original tin bodywork and has a distinguished racing history, is driven by a nitro-fuelled 482 cubic inch engine.
The record time will be averaged out over two runs, the second of which must be completed inside a set time window.
