Motorists have been left staggered after newly painted parking bays on a Swansea car park fail to accommodate the average sized car, leaving drivers no room to get out of their vehicle once parked.
An investigation has been launched in response to a number of complaints about the 265-space car park at Langland Bay on the Gower peninsula.
Engineer Mervyn Dowrick, 58, said that he uses the car park go surfing with friends but was shocked when he couldn’t squeeze his Volkswagen van into one of the bays like before.
“Being a regular visitor to Langland Bay I turned up at the car park as usual to meet my friends and noticed that new white lines had been painted,” Mervyn said.
“However to my amazement I also noticed that the car parking bays had been marked out for probably the world’s smallest cars.
“Some of the bays are so small that you cannot even park a vehicle between them.
“What a total waste of public money.”
A Swansea Council spokesperson told the South Wales Evening Post that it is investigating the issue and explained that the lines were painted by contractors.
@SWEveningPost @SwanseaCouncil You need to look at how poorly the car park at Langland Bay has been painted. No consistency
