A woman has been caught on film completing a crossword at the wheel of her car – whilst driving at 40mph down a busy motorway, reports the Sun.
The oblivious motorist was captured by Mike and Jemma Yorke as they returned from a camping trip.
Mike, 39, who was sat in the passengers seat when he spotted the unknown motorist, commented: “The traffic was busy and we were doing about 40mph.
“My wife said ‘Is she reading the paper?’
“I hate people doing what she was doing and not concentrating on the road.
“I recorded her and she was doing a crossword, it was just unbelievable.
“It’s unreal that anyone thinks they should do that while driving on a motorway.”
The couple were with their two children on a notoriously dangerous stretch of the M4 near Port Talbot when they spotted the middle-aged woman behind the wheel of a red Renault Clio on Monday, around 5.30pm.
Inspector Rowan Moore of South Wales Police’s roads policing unit said: Motorists have a responsibility to remain focused on their driving when they are behind the wheel, and anything which may detract from that, as has been reported in this case, is clearly dangerous.
“South Wales Police takes safety on our roads extremely seriously, and we will take positive action when appropriate in order to educate about, promote and enforce road safety.
“Through Operation Snap, which has been adopted by all four police forces in Wales, anyone who has dash cam footage of others driving dangerously can submit it online.
“This allows us to deal with those who compromise all our safety on our roads.”
