The DVSA has commenced its roll-out of the new MOT security cards and says it will continue to send out around 2,500 cards each day.
Testing station site managers will receive a pack containing the new security cards for their testers, which are to replace the current PIN system.
Testers that fail to receive their card by 8 December should inform their site manager to have a new one ordered.
Early concerns were raised by testers following the DVSA’s announcement about the new cards but the agency maintains that the cards will add an additional layer of security and that they are easy to activate and use.
The current PIN system will be switched off in December and testers that have not activated their new card will not be able to use the MOT testing service.
Users will be required to press a button on the front of the card to generate a unique six-digit PIN, needed to log in to the MOT testing service.
In a Matters of Testing blog, the DVSA said: “I know that some of you have had concerns, however those who are already using the cards have told us that the cards are easy and straightforward to activate and the instructions that come with the pack are helpful.
“They quickly got used to using their cards, knowing there’s an added security layer to protect personal information is a good thing.”
