Investigating a customer complaint of vehicle vibration, PicoScope Automotive application specialist Steve Smith connects a BMW 3 Series to Pico’s Noise vibration and harshness (NVH) kit and completes a three-axis vibration measurement in a new video.
Steve talks through the simple connection process before setting up the software for an NVH road test.
During the road test, Steve identifies the vibration described by the customer and finds the source to be located at the front right hand side of the vehicle.
Steve said: “Based on the information that we have now, the front right hand of the vehicle would be the offending source of that T-one vibration.
“That could be wheel, tyre, brake rotor, driver shaft, if it was a front-wheel drive vehicle but ultimately we need to concentrate our diagnosis efforts on the right-hand, front of the vehicle.”
