Kent-based engine detox specialist, EDT Automotive has turned over £1m since launching in 2013, generating £2.5m in additional aftersales turnover for EDT partners.

EDT managing director, David Holmes FIMI, said: “It exceeds what we thought was an ambitious target when we set up the company three years ago.

“The treatment makes a real difference to fuel economy and drivers are spreading the word via social media.

“For workshops, our pay-as-you-go model means the up-front costs are minimal.”

The company expanded its selection criteria to include independent garages as well as main dealers, and has a strong compatibility with Bosch Car Care Centres.

EDT seeks independents

The specialist is calling for more independent garages to join, particularly in Norfolk, Suffolk and Lincolnshire.

The hand-built EDT machine cleans petrol or diesel engines with an environmentally friendly solution, taking just 13 minutes to remove up to half a litre of black sludge that doesn’t come out in an ordinary oil change.

David explained that the results are close to a manual engine strip, with fuel economy increased by up to 20 per cent, power increased by up to 6bhp and torque increased by up to 7ft-lb.

CO emissions are also reduced by an around 66 per cent and diesel smoke by an average 58 per cent.
