The Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) is changing the way MOT test centres can replace their original VT9 certificate if they’ve mislaid or damaged the original.
A current VT9 certificate must be displayed on the public noticeboard at every MOT centre.
Workshops can now apply online for a free replacement. To get one, the DVSA requires the authorised examiner (AE) number and MOT centre number – sometimes called the MOT testing station ID or vehicle testing station (VTS) number.
The DVSA will email you a copy of your certificate within seven working days.
To apply, you must hold one of the following roles:
- Site manager
- Authorised examiner principal (AEP) – one of the business owners or directors
- Authorised examiner designated manager (AEDM) – the person who oversees the management, operation and quality of all MOTs in the business
- Authorised examiner delegate (AED) – a person who assists the AEDM with managing MOT testing
You cannot use this service to change your details on a VT9 certificate. Apply to make a change to your MOT centre instead. You’ll then be sent a new VT9 certificate with the new details.
