Bartec celebrates 25 years in the TPMS market

It’s 25 years since Bartec received a request to design and supply the first tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS) antenna for Renault in France.

The successful delivery of that system led to orders for eight additional Renault plants and further orders for Ford, GM and Chrysler in North America, as TPMS was introduced there and eventually legislated. Since then, the company has installed over 220 plant systems worldwide.

In 2005, Bartec USA was formed to support customers in North America and supply TPMS repair tools to the growing number of aftermarket customers. Roll forward to today, and the company has supplied over 210,000 TPMS tyre shop tools to North America and over 35,000 into Europe.

These advanced tools diagnose TPMS faults, enable repairs and turn off the warning light. The tools are able to receive software and coverage updates over WiFi again enabling the technician to repair even the latest vehicles.

Bartec OE customers include Ford, Chrysler, GM, Mitsubishi, Renault, Volvo, Nissan, Subaru, Isuzu, Land Rover, Jaguar, Honda, Hyundai, Toyota, Kia, BMW, Mercedes and wheel manufacturers and assemblers across the world.

A past winner of the prestigious Queen’s Award for Enterprise, the company has continued to innovate and for the past five years has focused on aftermarket emissions systems. It recently launched its new Particle Counter for measuring tailpipe carbon particle emissions and is already supplying into the Swiss and German markets to meet the new EU legislation there.
