Why are cabin filters so important?

To provide the vehicle’s occupants with the best possible environment and therefore a better driving experience, good cabin air quality is just as important as an efficient and well performing engine.

In addition to ensuring the peak performance of the air conditioning (AC) system, premium quality cabin filters also safeguard the health and wellbeing of the vehicle’s occupants. These filters and filtration systems work hard to optimise the cabin environment, preventing airborne particles such as dust, pollutants, pollens and other allergens from entering the cabin and taking the driver’s attention away from the road.

In particular, they prevent particulates from entering the heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system, because, without a correctly performing cabin air filter, the system won’t receive the continuous flow of clean air that it needs to operate efficiently.

DENSO’s cabin filtration systems have been developed to original equipment (OE) quality standards with advanced technologies, easy-fit design and long-life efficiency to allow them to stand up to the rigours of everyday use.

By filtering and trapping potentially irritating and hazardous particles before they enter the car’s cabin, its filter systems provide the occupants with a clean and temperate environment, allowing them to travel with complete peace of mind and ensuring the driver can concentrate on the road, without the inconvenience of sore eyes or the fear of breathing in bacteria and other allergens.

Despite being traditionally considered as a seasonal product, the cabin filter has now become an all-year-round replacement requirement, particularly as using the HVAC system, whatever the season, is finally being accepted as not only the best course of action for the well-being of the vehicle’s occupants, but also for the performance and longevity of the complete AC system.

In order to provide the independent sector with the highly effective OE quality replacement components it needs, DENSO Aftermarket offers two types of cabin air filter: standard particle filters and combination filters, which have an additional, activated charcoal layer located inside the filtration material.

The particle filter

DENSO Particle Filters are manufactured using a high-quality non-woven fleece material that has up to five individual layers, which offer exceptional protection from dust, soot, pollen and particles. They also feature a high-capacity dust-holding chamber that keeps pollutants away from the vehicle’s interior and minimises air flow resistance.

The combination filter

DENSO Combination Filters are even more effective, blocking particles that are 1,000 times smaller than a human hair and capable of removing up to 25 percent more major pollutants than standard cabin filters, so trapping almost 100 percent of dust, pollen and solid particles before they can be inhaled.

In addition, thanks to an extra, activated charcoal layer located inside the filtration material, they offer the added advantage of ensuring the cabin atmosphere is always fresh, pleasant and healthy to breathe.

The DENSO cabin filter range consists of 233 part numbers that cover around 90 percent of the European car parc.
