New Saudi Arabia Dakar route to challenge crews and trucks
Saudi Arabia is the 30th host country in the Dakar Rally's history.

After ten years on the roads of South America, the Dakar Rally has moved to Saudi Arabia.

The prestigious competition started on 5 January on the Red Sea coast from Jeddah and ends on 17 January in Qiddiya.

The total length of the route is 7800 km.

Trucks and crews will be challenged by a new route with twelve stages: Gorges, dunes, mountains and dry riverbeds will be a difficult test for drivers and navigators.

The most intensive special stages await the crews in the deserts of Nefood and Rub al-Khali.

KAMAZ-master is presented by four sport trucks in the race: the reigning Dakar champion Eduard Nikolaev, the winner of the Silk Way Rally 2019 Anton Shibalov as well as Andrej Karginov and Dmitry Sotnikov will fight for victory.

The legendary team has won 16 races in the past 23 years.

KAMAZ-master’s recipe for success includes selecting the best partners and the best components for their trucks, so this is not the first time that the winning team has chosen Clarios VARTA AGM batteries for its trucks.

A VARTA spokesperson said: “Every component in the KAMAZ-master trucks is thoroughly tested by the engineers, because the extreme conditions of the race require full confidence in the vehicle components.

“VARTA AGM batteries are a perfect match for the extreme conditions.

“Not only do they withstand vibrations and high temperatures, but they also offer high cycle stability, allowing repeated charging and discharging of the battery without loss of performance.”
