ALLDATA Europe took centre stage at the recent UK Garage & Bodyshop Event with a panel discussion on the future of the automotive aftermarket.
The panel, led by ALLDATA Europe’s UK sales director Simon Frost, addressed critical changes facing the industry, including:
- The rise of electric vehicles (EVs) and Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems (ADAS): Panellists emphasised the need for technicians to stay up-to-date with these evolving technologies through foundational training.
- The importance of original equipment manufacturer (OEM) data: ALLDATA Repair data was highlighted as a vital resource for accurate diagnostics and repairs, especially with increasingly complex vehicles.
- Investment in tools and training: The discussion stressed the importance of workshops investing in high-quality diagnostic tools and ongoing staff training to stay competitive.
- Strategies for staff recruitment and retention: Competitive wages, a well-equipped workshop, and access to accurate technical information were identified as key factors in attracting and retaining skilled staff.
- The role of a strong business strategy: The panel underscored the importance of a robust business plan and targeted marketing efforts for workshop success.
While the panel discussion was a key attraction, ALLDATA Europe also reported a busy stand at the event. Many existing and potential customers signed up for free trials and took advantage of show discounts.
Simon added: “Naturally, our panel was a vital part of our UK Garage & Bodyshop Event; we were pleased that many of the audience found their way back to our stand at the conclusion of it – we had some great conversations. On behalf of everyone, I would also like to thank James, Karl and Steve for their co-operation and support.”
