Anderson Clark Motor Repairs, a well-respected Inverness garage for nearly 30 years, has switched to being an employee-owned business. The 14 staff members now own the company through an employee ownership trust.

The £2 million annual turnover business is known for its excellent customer service, having won numerous independent repair centre awards and achieving the ‘Investors in People’ Gold Standard.

The Clark family, who previously owned the business, will remain involved during the transition, while a seasoned leadership team will guide the company forward, including managing director designate Neil Johnstone, company secretary Katie Fraser, and workshop manager Alan Reid, all long-time employees of Anderson Clark.

Anderson Clark Motor Repairs is believed to be the first independent auto repair centre in Scotland to adopt an employee ownership model. This move reflects a growing trend in Scotland, with the number of employee-owned businesses increasing by 47% since 2022 alone.

The transition was facilitated by advisors Ralph Leishman, Douglas Roberts, Nimarta Cheema, and Jonathan Innes. All agreed that employee ownership will ensure continued quality service for customers while offering job security and a stake in the company’s success for the employees.
