The accreditation will recognise the diagnostic capability of an independent garage and verify that they have the ability to communicate with the latest technology in cars.
IGA director Stuart James said: “The IGA Diagnostic Specialist Award has been developed to highlight the very best all round diagnostic capability in the motor industry to consumers and fleets, and unlike the sectors that service and repair predominately one brand, the independents work on all brands allowing a greater level of cross brand expertise.
“The IGA is going to give independent members that demonstrate the skills the IGA Diagnostic Specialist Award, to promote themselves to work providers and consumers that need advanced technical support.”
The award will be launched later in the year.
