Beware of good parts prices that mask poor quality, Corteco warns

New point of sale leaflets highlight the dangers of installing inferior low cost parts

Beware of good parts prices that mask poor quality, Corteco warns
Appearances often deceive, OE quality from a genuine source.

The leaflets are part of an industry-led campaign to warn garages about the dangers from installing low cost parts that look good, will fit, but can’t possibly do the job.

Corteco marketing manager, Steve Jarnet said: “We want to make OE quality parts, not price, the key driver.”

The PoS leaflets feature oil seals, torsional vibration dampers and cabin filters; all play key roles in the overall performance as well as the health and safety of drivers and passengers.

Jarnet added: “These PoS leaflets will help reinforce our message, which I guess you can say is as clear as black and white.

“Garages have the right to insist that the aftermarket parts they buy are being sourced from suppliers with genuine OE connections.”

Corteco is the aftermarket distribution arm of Freudenberg, which is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of parts supplied to OE manufacturers.

In association with the Original Equipment Suppliers Aftermarket Association (OESAA), the supplier has been taking part in a series of seminars designed to raise installer awareness about the dangers posed by parts that look like the genuine article but are pale imitations.
