A 25-year-old man from Corby has been given a community order after he failed to pay for work carried out a garage in the Northamptonshire town.
Brian Joyce asked Lodge Tyre Corby to carry out a full service and for replacement parts to be fitted to his car just before Christmas 2022. But Joyce, who has a previous conviction for carrying a knife, refused to pay the £250 bill.
Appearing at Northampton Magistrates’ Court on a single charge of theft, Joyce’s community order includes 15 rehabilitation requirement days. His lack of means meant that no order was made for costs, but Joyce was ordered to pay a £114 victim surcharge at £20 a month.
