A 12-strong contingent of representatives from UK automotive aftermarket motor factors recently received the chance to gain an explicit and informative insight into the makings of an OE battery manufacturer.

It was part of a three-day visit to Banner’s head office and manufacturing facility in Linz, Austria, and a trip that also saw the customers of Banner‘s British operation participate in a couple of ‘bucket list’ experiences in the process.

With Banner kick-starting proceedings at the Linz manufacturing facility, the distributors were treated to a factory tour that served to detail the step-by-step process of automotive battery production; one that sees Banner’s batteries fitted as original equipment on many of today’s leading car manufacturers.

Day two started with the delegates getting the chance to enjoy a leisurely visit to Banner’s Linz home before heading off via luxury private coach to the world famous Red Bull Hangar-7 at Salzburg Airport – a futuristic building that houses the historical Flying Bulls aircraft fleet and a collection of Formula 1 cars.

Following on from a team lunch at the Hangar, it was a trip to Munich for dinner and preparation for day three.

With Banner having enjoyed a long standing O/E relationship with Germany’s world leading car manufacturer, BMW, Banner’s UK distributors were entertained to a visit to the highly-acclaimed BWM Museum. With its iconic architecture and located

Directly opposite BWM Welt, the museum features an impressive and permanent exhibition covering the major milestones of BMW Group’s 100-year history.

Commenting on the trip, Banner’s country manager, Lee Quinney said: “The primary reason for organising the visit was to demonstrate Banner’s design, manufacturing and research and development capabilities, which is in essence why the quality of their batteries have become so prominent within the OE arena.

“It also presented an opportunity for our customers to enjoy a couple of the region’s most popular attractions from an automotive standpoint.

“Certainly the feedback we have received from those who attended has been extremely positive, with several of them never having previously had the opportunity to visit a battery manufacturer. It really was a memorable few days and one that we shall definitely be looking to repeat in the future,” he added.
