How Draper Tools gave something back last Christmas

Christmas is a time for giving back, and the team at Draper Tools certainly took that to heart last year, supporting both local and global causes through a range of charitable activities.

December kicked off with employees of the automotive tool firm donating toys for The Cash for Kids Mission Christmas appeal, which is the biggest toy appeal in the UK and ensures that children who would have nothing to open on Christmas morning receive presents to enjoy.

In 2023, a total of 22,000 applications were made to the southern arm of the charity from across the region to help make sure children and young people in the local area receive Christmas gifts. Draper Tools has been a long term supporter of Mission Christmas, with colleagues collecting toys and gifts for the appeal every year since 2014.

Alongside this, colleagues at the company’s head office also collected a range of food items to donate to the Southampton City Mission Food Bank. More than 100 canned food items were donated as well as other essentials including pasta and cereals, plus a variety of festive treats to help support local families in need.

The company’s charitable efforts didn’t end there; on the 7 December the Draper team took part in Christmas Jumper Day, donning festive knitwear and baking festive treats to raise funds for Save the Children.

Further funds for Save the Children were raised through a Southampton Football Club themed raffle. The company, which made a return as Official Team Partner to Southampton FC earlier this year, raffled off signed Saints memorabilia and merchandise for employees, raising over £500 in the process.

Matt Sheen, CEO at Draper Tools said: “As a family business, supporting our community is very important to us and everyone here was certainly keen to give back this Christmas. Seeing the collections of both food and toys growing each day at head office was something we all felt proud to be a part of.

“Equally we all recognise the vital work of Save the Children and were keen to ensure that our festive fun helped raise money for this incredible charity. The team gave generously and it brought a good deal of festive cheer to the office. I’d like to say a huge thank you to all who took part and to all the charities who do so much at this time of year.”
