HELLA raises £6.4K in Ben’s Race Across Britain

HELLA has raised more than £6,400 for automotive industry charity, Ben after it entered two teams into an epic three-day Race Across Britain.

Inspired by the BBC TV series Race Across the World, Ben held its race from 26th to 28th February raising vital funds to support people in the automotive industry who are struggling or in crisis. It challenged participants to embark on a gruelling journey with no planes, smartphones, or pre-planning allowed.

Two HELLA teams enthusiastically embraced the competition: Steve Hudson, HELLA’s national sales manager and Julian Goulding, head of sales at Hella Gutmann formed ‘HELLA Raisers,’ while Helen Goldingay, marketing and communications manager and Simone Brooks, head of customer services became ‘HELLA Angels.’

“This was a fantastic charity event,” said Helen. “It provided a platform for us to come together, showcase our resilience, and contribute to a cause that supports our industry when it needs it most. We’d like to add a heartfelt appreciation to all participants, supporters, and sponsors who have rallied behind the charity event, demonstrating the strength of solidarity within the automotive sector.”

Using only public transport, the teams navigated from checkpoint to checkpoint with determination and grit. Reminiscent of the popular TV series, they operated on a limited budget and remained oblivious to their next destination.

In true Race Across Britain fashion, the HELLA teams engaged in additional challenges along the way to bolster their budget including the respraying of a vehicle wing in virtual reality, a ‘Ben bear hunt’ and a ‘code breaker’ prize draw. However, they had to keep a watchful eye on the clock to avoid falling behind the racing pack.

Tasked with finding their own accommodation and transport, they competed against teams from across the automotive industry. HELLA’s teams crossed the finish line simultaneously, securing the 22nd and 23rd positions.
